This Is Us – “Team Evangel”
On Big Game Sunday, Pastor Tim related the key differences between being on Team Evangel and being on any other sports team. As fans, it’s easy to get swept up in what is happening with the team and kind of lose touch with reality. We go to the games and wear the jersey and without realizing we start referring to the team in the first–person plural “we.” We act as if we are playing on the team, but we’re not. We’re just spectators. The same can happen with church. We attend services and we’re around the action so much that we see ourselves as a player, when we are really just a spectator.
